Police remind ATVers to mind their speed after turkey-related collision

The Killaloe Detachment of the OPP says an ATV rider was hurt after swerving to avoid a turkey.

Police were called to a single rollover collision of an ATV near Spectacle Lake Road and Highway 60 in South Algonquin Township on July 15th. The lone operator from Windsor had swerved to avoid hitting a turkey and lost control. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were later air-lifted to another hospital.

Police say that drivers of all vehicles should slow down to avoid collisions with wildlife. This will allow them to have more time to react if an animal crosses their path. They say that swerving to avoid an animal can lead to a loss of control and serious injuries.
