South Algonquin warning about sharps in waste

The Township of South Algonquin wants people to be responsible when disposing of certain types of waste.

They say that “sharps” are medical waste and do not belong in their landfill sites. Sharps include things like needles, syringes and epi-pens, and do not belong in household waste. The township says they are dangerous for their employees to handle.

All sharps can be disposed of at any pharmacy. The municipality adds they must be placed in a rigid plastic container before disposal.
