Bancroft Dairy Queen hosting fundraising barbecue for Miracle Treat Day

A local restaurant is partnering with the Bancroft Fire Department to raise money for a children’s hospital.

The Dairy Queen on Hastings Street is hosting a barbecue with the department as part of an annual event called “Miracle Treat Day.”

“Miracle Treat Day is an activity that is put on by Dairy Queen Canada,” says Janice Stapley, who co-owns the Bancroft restaurant. “All the Dairy Queens in Canada will give the proceeds from the Blizzards [an item on the menu] that are sold on August the 11th, which is Thursday, and it goes to children’s hospitals.”

Stapley says proceeds from the barbecue are also going towards the fundraising campaign.

“We’ll have french fries, hamburgers, and bottled water, and we’ll serve it from, probably, about 11:00 [AM] until 2:00 [PM], or until we run out,” Stapley says.

The money is all being donated to SickKids, a children’s hospital based out of Toronto.
