Hastings Highlands Mosaic to be installed first week of September

The latest stone pebble installation from ReDefine Arts is set to be finished in Combermere.

The mosaic, a collaboration between Maggie’s Resource Centre and ReDefine Arts, will be finished during the first week of September. However, due to ongoing construction at Lookout Park, there will instead be a ceremony at Emond Hall in Maynooth. Organizers say the event will be an audio-visual presentation featuring a ceremony commemorating the monument and guest speakers.

This is the second mosaic sponsored by the Resource Centre and ReDefine Arts after unveiling a similar installation in Bancroft last year. The piece at Lookout Park was constructed with the help of over 150 residents of Hastings Highlands. The pebble monument is six feet in diameter and will be permanently installed at Lookout Park.

The Mosaic is also the latest of the Countdown Public Art Projects, a province-wide initiative to install similar monuments to honour those affected by gender-based violence.
