Ontario Fish and Wildlife sending staff out to monitor fish populations

You may see Ontario Fish and Wildlife staff on the lakes this summer, and they want you to know what they are doing.

Staff are monitoring the fish populations of lakes across Ontario to build a picture of which fish are populating which lakes. They say they appreciate efforts by boaters to avoid their sampling nets, which they have set out in the lakes they are monitoring. Nets are marked by buoys with the Province’s logo on them.

Fish and Wildlife say that their work allows them to approximate how many fish are in a given waterway. They say doing so will allow them to support sustainable fishing throughout the province.
