There’s a northern Ontario connection to the Pan Am Games starting this Friday in Toronto.
The medals that will be handed out were designed by Christi Belcourt, a Metis nation woman who lives in Espanola. Â The medal design depicts Aboriginal traditions of welcoming guests.
She’s an accomplished artist and one her stained glass creations can be found on Parliament Hill.
Belcourt also designed the medal for next month’s Parapan Games.
