Tweed ends state of emergency, maintains full burn ban

It’s been almost a month since a Tornado touched down in June, but the Municipality of Tweed says it’s ready to get things back to normal.

The township has ended its state of emergency effective immediately. However, due to the tornado, there is an increased risk of wildfires in the area. The ban was put in place on Wednesday, August 17th and affects most of South and Central Hastings. The Tweed Fire Department will conduct controlled burns of excess brush at a location on Quarry Street. Residents can drop off brush at this location.

The municipality also warns of compromised trees that could fall on roadways as a result of the tornado. They urge caution while driving on municipal roads.
