Bancroft Village Playhouse hosting “All About Anne” fundraiser for NHIP

A local library and housing project will be receiving a funding boost from a theatre production in town this weekend.

“We’re building a brand new library that’s called the North Hastings Inspirational Place (NHIP), and along with the library, we’re bringing 30 brand new apartments to the area,” says Michael Brooks, the NHIP Capital Fundraising Committee’s spokesperson.

“The library will be the most up to date you can expect,” he adds, “with computer stations, meeting rooms, a kitchen, and, yes, even books.”

The project is partly funded by the Town of Bancroft and the nearby townships of Limerick and Faraday, but Brooks says a major fundraiser for the project is coming up.

“We’re holding our largest fundraising event of the year this weekend at the Bancroft Playhouse,” he says, “in partnership with Tweed and Company [the theatre production organization that runs the Playhouse] and the Spirit of Maud Theatre Company.”

The event is a show series called “All About Anne,” with all proceeds going towards the project. According to Brooks, the production will feature three shows inspired by the writings of Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author behind Anne of Green Gables.

“We encourage all to come out and experience this unique event,” Brooks says. “We hope everyone comes out, has fun, and above all, supports the new library in Bancroft.”

The first show is happening Friday, September 9th, at 7:00 PM. You can find more information, including ticket prices, on the Bancroft Village Playhouse website.
