The people building Bancroft’s new public library are publicly thanking everyone who helped with a recent fundraising event for the project.
The event, called “All About Anne,” involved a three-day production at the Bancroft Village Playhouse, based on the writings of Anne of Green Gables author Lucy Maud Montgomery. All proceeds from the show series went towards the North Hastings Inspirational Place (NHIP) project.
“Many thanks to all who donated items, attended performances, bid in the Silent Auction, volunteered, staff of The Village Playhouse, the Spirit of Maud Theatre Company and Tweed & Company,” the team in charge of the project says in a social media post.
The NHIP is a new library being built in town that will also bring 30 new apartment units to the area. The construction has been partly funded by the Town of Bancroft and some other nearby municipalities, with the rest coming from community fundraisers like the “All About Anne” production.
Ground will be broken for the NHIP’s construction this fall.
