Economic report outlines progress on 20 Bancroft objectives

BANCROFT: Mayor Paul Jenkins says he’s “ecstatic” with progress the town has made on its economic plan.

At Tuesday’s council meeting, the town released a mid-point report on its “Making Our Future” action plan.

The report updates progress on 20 objectives council has worked on during the past term – and classifies the amount of progress made on each one.

Objectives related to downtown revitalization and working on affordable housing initiatives were put into the “significant progress” made category.

Other objectives, such as bringing the arts community closer together, were classified under the “limited progress” category.

Jenkins said, given the high volume of projects, he’s pleased with the progress the town had made.

He called the action plan a “blue print” for the economic development that will be in place beyond this council term.

He said the objectives are designed to make Bancroft “stronger economically and stronger culturally; a place that’s very desirable to live, work and play.”
