United Way Hastings & Prince Edward hopes to raise $2 million.
The 2022 campaign goal was announced at a ceremony in Belleville Wednesday.
The United Way raises money for and advocates on behalf of 52 agencies and 74 programs throughout the region.
Some of those agencies are specifically for the Bancroft area. That includes North Hastings Community Cupboard and North Hastings Community Trust.
United Way Executive Director Brandi Hodge said the rising costs of living has heightened the importance of fundraising for these agencies.
With the campaign now underway, several fundraising events will take place this fall.
The campaign is off to a good start, as more than $400,000 has already been raised, with 19 weeks to go.
The overall total raised will be announced in February.
