Rev. Lynn Watson to take on new role in Norwood, celebration planned for Sept. 25

BANCROFT: A proper send off is being planned for a beloved community figure.

St. Paul’s United Church Reverend Lynn Watson will soon be leaving Bancroft to head a ministry in Norwood.

Her final service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

St. Paul’s volunteer Judy Edgar says she hopes people will come out and pay tribute to Watson’s tireless efforts to help Bancroft.

She said Watson was respected for  “thinking outside the box” and being involved in community initiatives beyond her own congregation.

She led efforts to bring refugees to the community and was involved in charity work.

She was also padre for the Royal Canadian Legion and was well-known for supporting veterans.

The final service will feature Indigenous music and songs by a group known as the “Rev Lynns.”
