Hastings Highlands announces new treasurer

MAYNOOTH: A change in leadership structure is expected to make Hastings Highlands town hall work more efficiently.

Tanya Dickinson was announced as the municipality’s new treasurer at the Wednesday, Sept. 21 council meeting. She had been in a deputy treasurer role since 2019.

As treasurer, Dickinson will act as the town’s chief financial officer and will also provide strategic advice to department heads.

The appointment allows chief administrative officer Dave Stewart to no longer have full treasurer duties. He will now work in a hybrid CAO-deputy treasurer role.

In a statement, Mayor Tracy Hagar said council welcomes the appointment and Dickinson’s “years of experience already working for the municipality will prove to be valuable” for the team.

Several councillors applauded the decision, saying that Dickinson can be trusted to keep the municipality’s finances in order.
