Municipal election candidates are getting out to earn your vote

The municipal election is now less than a month away – and opportunities to meet the people who are running are coming up.

Bancroft voters can attend a candidate meet and greet event scheduled for 10 a.m. this Wednesday at The Granite restaurant.

Voters in the town have some choice, as the race for mayor is between incumbent Paul Jenkins, Scott Munro and Michael Anderson.

There are also six candidates running in each of the two town wards, with only three councillor positions available in each ward.

And Hastings Highlands voters may want to circle Saturday, Oct. 8 in their calendars. That’s the date of an all candidates meeting for those running in the neighbouring municipality. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m to noon at Emond Hall, inside the town office in Maynooth.

There’s also a three-person race for mayor in Hastings Highlands, with Tony Fitzgerald, Dorothy Gerrow and Frank Hickey vying for the job. Eight candidates are running for the five council seats available.

Tammy Davis has already been acclaimed to the Deputy Mayor role in Hastings Highlands.

Election day is Monday, October 24th.
