Friday, Sept. 30 honours survivors and those who never returned home from residential schools

And members and supporters of this region’s Indigenous community will do their part.

The Algonquin Inodewiziwin Child and Family Centre and North Hastings Children’s Services are hosting an event at Millennium Park in Bancroft. It runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will feature drums, singing and a moment of silence. Participants are also encouraged to wear orange shirts that represent the Every Child Matters movement.

Sept. 30 is now recognized as National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Families and school groups are encouraged to come out and organizers ask that people register in advance through North Hastings Children’s Services so they know how many people to expect.
