Madawaska Valley Studio Art Tour celebrating 30th year

This weekend marks a special moment for a nearby arts community.

The Madawaska Valley Studio Tour is celebrating its 30th year.

People are encouraged to drive around the valley and stop in at any of the 15 studio locations, where artists, or guest artists, will be showing work.

In honour of the milestone year, tour organizers are selling special commemorative tour gift cards. They’re also trying to support the next generation of artists. Two high school students are among the group of artists participating.

Tour co-ordinator Tanya Lyons said Madawaska Valley has a strong arts community, whose members are inspired by the beautiful land.

“There’s a very strong, close-knit body of artists who started this tour and still many of those original artists are in the hills here” said Lyons. “(The tour) shows how much the community loves to come into studios and see where art is made.”

The studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday. Location details can be found on the tour’s website.
