United Way opens application process for social agencies

The United Way’s fall fundraising campaign is now well underway – and social agencies that could benefit from its efforts are being encouraged to apply for funds.

The Hastings Prince Edward branch has opened its application process, hoping to draw new service agencies.

The United Way recently announced a goal to raise $2 million by the end of the year.

Its Executive Director, Brandi Hodge, said the application process is open to all social service agencies and charities – and they don’t have to have a previous relationship with the United Way to be considered.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 24 and details on the process can be viewed from the United Way’s website.

All requests submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by a citizen committee.

United Way prioritizes funding programs that fall into any of its three main pillars. They are about helping “kids be all they can be”, helping people move from “poverty to possibility” and “building “strong communities.”

The organization has traditionally helped several local groups, including North Hastings Community Cupboard and North Hastings Community Trust.
