UPDATE, Monday, Oct. 11, 2022, 9 a.m.
After being open for the Thanksgiving weekend, a section of Hastings Street has closed again for construction.
Work is taking place between Bridge Street and the Scotiabank. But with an influx of travellers expected over Thanksgiving, the town decided to put construction work on pause and open it up.
It’s closing again so crews can continue work adding new curbs and gutters.
Bancroft Public Works director Perry Kelly says he’s pleased with how it’s going.
“We’re really happy with the progress so far, with the contractors and how far we’ve moved this project along,” he said. “The anticipation over the next week is to have a good share of the sidewalks completed.”
The work is part of Phase 1 of Bancroft’s Main Street Makeover project. It’s expected to continue until the snow falls. Phase 2 work, further north on Hastings Street, is planned for spring.
