The Bancroft OPP handed out 60 tickets during increased patrol of high-collision areas around town for the Canada Day holiday.
The detachment’s Canada Day Traffic Plan involved extra patrol on highway sections where an above-average number of collisions have happened in the past. Officers focused on: speeding, seatbelt offences, distracted driving and R.I.D.E. checks for impaired drivers.
It says between June 26 and July 2, tickets were given for: speeding, distracted and impaired driving, alcohol-related offences as well as off-road and marine vehicles.
With increased summer traffic, the OPP will be patrolling local highways, trails and waterways.
