OHTO-supported grant program adding colour to downtown

You may have noticed a little more colour is being added to downtown Bancroft of late. And, it could be just the start.

An Ontario Highlands Tourism Organization supported grant program has led to more than 30 works of art being installed in busy business areas.

The Bancroft Business Improvement Area announced that OHTO helped secure $44,000 to pay for and install the art. The tourism organization has been helping agencies access the money, which comes through the federal government’s Tourism Relief Fund. More than a dozen different artists have benefitted.

Jody Yantha of the BBIA says the artwork is meant to make the town more attractive and it’s receiving tonnes of compliments. She hopes even more artwork will be installed in the future; noting that grant programs like these are needed to pay for the costs.
