“We’ll all be stronger if we work together.” That’s the message from health care workers, as we head into a tough cold, flu and COVID-19 season.
The Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Health Team, Quinte Health Care and Hastings Prince Edward Public Health have issued a joint statement to encourage people to take health measures seriously.
The statement says COVID-19 continues to spread locally, reinforcing the need for people to stay up-to-date with booster vaccines. It also says that many people have not received an annual flu vaccine throughout the pandemic. Community immunity to cold and flu has lessened due to lack of exposure over the last two seasons.
The statement says the healthcare system is already under incredible strain and health work workers need the public to take precautions so it doesn’t become more overwhelmed.
