UPDATE: Paul Jenkins re-elected as Bancroft Mayor, Tony Fitzgerald elected Hastings Highlands Mayor

Update: 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25

Paul Jenkins will continue to lead Bancroft as mayor.

The town has released unofficial election results. It has Jenkins winning the election with 697 votes. Scott Munro is second with 585 votes. Michael Anderson is third with 189 votes.

The votes show that the council will be made up of Mary Kavanagh, Tracy McGibbon and George Eastman in Ward 1. Ward 2 will be represented by Barry McGibbon, Valerie Miles and Charles Mullet. 

It’s the second straight election for Jenkins as mayor of Bancroft, after winning in 2018. He became mayor of the town back in 2017, when Bernice Jenkins stepped down for health reasons.

Fitzgerald elected Mayor of Hastings Highlands

And in Hastings Highlands, unofficial results show Tony Fitzgerald being elected mayor. 

Fitzgerald, a councillor until now, was up against fellow councillor Dorothy Gerrow and Frank Hickey.  Fitzgerald earned 1,130 votes while Gerrow earned 871 votes. Hickey earned 441. 

The winning councillors in Hastings Highlands were Keith Buck (1001 votes), Roger Davis (1,180 votes), Tracy Hagar (1,285 votes), Nancy Matheson (1,301 votes) and Joan Nieman (1,539 votes).
