United Way Hastings & Prince Edward needs push from donors

The United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is about 40 per cent towards its goal of raising $2 million by the end of January. But it can’t rest now. It hopes money will keep coming in, as needs are high.

United Way raises money for social agencies. It recently closed its application process for those groups and found that requests for funds was a half-million dollars more than what it allocated last year.

Executive Director Brandi Hodge says projections show that the campaign is on target to meet its goal but adds “it will be close.”

She’s hoping for a big push from donors, saying that the pandemic and inflation has led to rising needs.

The organization raises funds for several Bancroft-based organizations, including North Hastings Children’s Services and North Hastings Community Trust.
