UPDATE: Two bodies found at Whytes Road house fire

UPDATE: Thursday, Nov. 10, 3 p.m.

Bancroft OPP say the remains of two people have been found at the site of a fire that destroyed a Whytes Road home last week.

A police spokesperson says the bodies have not been identified. He also says the incident is still under investigation and it’s too early to say whether the deaths were an accident or a result of criminal activity.

Bancroft OPP and fire crews were called to the home, in the Township of Carlow-Mayo, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. Police said earlier that the owners of the home were “unaccounted for.”

Wednesday, Nov. 8, 3 p.m.

Police and firefighters are investigating a fire that destroyed a Whytes Road home and they say the owners are nowhere to be found.

Bancroft OPP and fire crews were called to the home, in the Township of Carlow-Mayo, at 1:30 p.m. last Friday. The house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

An OPP spokesperson tells Moose FM it’s an unusual case, as it doesn’t appear as though the house was a cottage, owned by people living elsewhere.

The Office of the Fire Marshall, the Bancroft OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are all part of the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
