Driver Jerome Mailloux and passenger Philippe Poirier of Quebec formed the winning team at the Rally of the Tall Pines car racing event in Bancroft over the weekend.
Crowds of several hundred took in the action at various spectator spots, in the south and east ends of town on Saturday.
This year’s event marked the return of fans for the first time, after two COVID-impacted years. And it couldn’t have gone any better, says Rally Co-ordinator Bruce Leonard.
“The roads were in great condition,” he says. “The competitors really enjoyed themselves on the roads. I know we had lots of spectators at Iron Bridge and at Detlor crossing. Everyone was well behaved which was great. I know the town was receptive to everyone coming.”
Leonard says the Rally will be back next year, again during a weekend in late November.
