OPP investigating break in to St. Paul’s Church

St. Paul’s United Church’s Outreach Committee is trying to get back to business after two rough COVID years, but a break-in last month isn’t helping.

The downtown Bancroft church was broken into around Nov 27. A cheque, a large TV and other supplies were taken, along with administrative materials needed to help the church with a gift card program it runs to help people buy groceries.

Church office administrator Susan Prentice says the break-in is an inconvenience at an already difficult time, as the church is struggling to fund outreach efforts, as the pandemic has limited its abilities to raise funds.

If people want to make donations or learn more, they can drop in between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Prentice says without donations, outreach programs can’t happen. Bancroft OPP is investigating the break in and anyone with information is asked to call the detachment.
