Bancroft Village Playhouse announces 2023 season

The curtain is rising again at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

The Cinderella adaptation, Cinder-Ellie, begins playing on Dec 14. And the recently announced 2023 season includes a Joni Mitchell tribute show, a mystery called Murder at the Ackerton Manor and Joseph and the  Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, all playing this summer.

The year 2022 marked a return to normal for the theatre, after about two years of COVID-related shutdowns.

Artistic Director Tim Porter says the return was well received, which is great news for the town, as a whole. He said the summer playing of Mamma Mia brought 4,000 customers into town, who, likely, stopped at shops or restaurants on their trip.

With the industry getting back to normal, he’s expecting a busy 2023 as upwards of 2,000 people have been added to the theatre’s mailing list.

The theatre’s parent group, Tweed & Company, is a registered charity, with a mandate to promote local arts and cutlure.

It will soon launch a 2023 sponsorship drive, where it will look for businesses to help the theatre run programs.
