Outdoor rinks opening across region

The news is nice for those who love outdoor ice. Outdoor skating rinks in the area are beginning to open.

There’s a fresh coat of glistening ice at the rink at the Dungannon Recreation Centre in L’Amable; the lone surface maintained by the Town of Bancroft.

Hastings Highlands maintains three rinks that all have ice down now, too. There’s the rink at Bird’s Creek Park, the rink in Maynooth and the rink at Lake St. Peter.

There’s also two outdoor rinks open in neighbouring Madawaksa Valley; one behind the Combermere Community Centre and the other behind the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.

All these ice surfaces are free to use and are open as long as the weather cooperates. People are encouraged to share the space.

Carlow/Mayo’s rink at Foster Lake Park is not ready for use.
