A Canadian figure skating champion and Olympian is coming to town.
The Bancroft Skating Club is getting ready for its annual carnival on Saturday, April 1. The event will feature Maddie Schizas.
Skating Club board member Leah MacDonald says it’s a thrill to have Schizas, who competed at the Beijing Games and is a two-time Skate Canada Challenge winner.
“It’s great to be able to have such an icon visit and perform for our club,” she says. “It’s a huge inspiration for our club members and our skaters. It’s awesome for our whole community as well.”
The show, called Blast From the Past, will run at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on that day and will feature routines by Bancroft Skating Club members. Tickets can be purchased at Tammy’s Family Hair Care, McG’s Cakes on Main, Harvest Moon and Stedman’s.
