A Bancroft woman is in custody and facing a charge of stealing a truck.
A Bancroft OPP officer stopped the vehicle downtown at about 3 p.m. last Thursday, believing the truck to be stolen. Police say a further investigation revealed it has been stolen from the Toronto area.
The woman, a 35-year-old, faces a charge of possession of property obtained by crime, plus one additional drug charge.
She now has a date in a Belleville court on Wednesday, March 15.
Man arrested for assault on main street
In other police news, a North Kawartha Township man is facing an assault charge, after what police describe as a “physical altercation” on Bancroft’s main street last week.
Bancroft OPP was called to Hastings Street North, just after 1:30 p.m. on Friday. After an investigation, police arrested the 46-year-old man.
He was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. He was released and given a court date in Bancroft on April 11.
