The Annex’s 2023 season starts with student art show

Arts and culture will be alive in Bancroft this spring, summer and fall.

The Annex, the gallery inside the building known as A Place for The Arts, has announced its 2023 lineup.

It starts with a student art show called Communications: What Are You Saying. It will feature the work of North Hastings High School students. An opening reception takes place on Friday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.

The gallery says many of the pieces were part of assignments in Andrew Edgar’s classes. His students learned art can be a tool to community ideas and concepts that otherwise might require an essay to say. The pieces were created to communicate ideas about juxtapositions, social issues and personal expressions.

The work will be on display through April. Seven other different shows are booked for the months of May through November. The next show is called Because I Can and features paintings by Robert Pearson. An opening reception for that show is May 5th at 7:30.
