The generosity of North Hastings people is tops in Canada.
North Hastings Community Cupboard announced that its holiday food drive campaign with Tony & Jill’s No Frills in Bancroft was the nation’s most successful drive among stores in the Loblaws chain.
The December-long campaign drew $15,572 in donations from shoppers. Another 2,300 pounds worth of food donations was dropped into carts.
The drive started with the Moose FM Spirit of Giving Radiothon on Dec. 3 – and donations kept rolling in after that.
Community Cupboard staff say they’re seeing increased needs, so the nation-leading drive couldn’t have come at a better time. They also say they’re grateful for the store, especially the cashiers who encouraged donations.
No Frills is now getting ready for its Spring Food Drive, which will run from March 30 to April 13. Watch for signs in the store that say what type of food items are needed.
