Tri-board Student Transportation staff could strike by April 3

Staff from the company that manages school busing services for North Hastings students could be on strike next month.

It’s not yet clear how this might impact the running of buses though.

A statement from the Canadian Union of Public Employees says that seven office workers from Tri-Board Student Transportation Services will be in a legal strike position by April 3.

That’s if their proposal for a wage increase is not accepted by then.

A CUPE spokesperson tells MyBancroftNow.com that the labour situation is not related to bus drivers and it’s possible that routes will still run.

But a walkoff would impact how services are planned for next year, as that work is normally done in the spring.

The spokesperson said many bus drivers are not unionized. The few that may be unionized are not members of CUPE.
