A Juno-award winner is helping The Village Playhouse usher in a new beginning.
Jane Bunnett and Maqueque will be the headline act for the theatre’s big spring fundraising event. It’s called the New Beginnings Gala and it takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.
Jane Bunnett is a highly decorated jazz artist with local ties. She has won a Juno – the top award for Canadian musicians – five times, and has received The Order of Canada. She’s also a three-time Grammy nominee.
The Gala raises funds for Tweed & Company, the non-profit organization that manages the playhouse and works to bring culture to the area. It’s currently getting ready for its summer season.
Tickets are $25 and extra donations to become “a friend of the Playhouse” are encouraged.
