Federal budget fails to address “real issues”: MP Kramp-Neuman

The federal budget doesn’t do enough to relieve families struggling with rising heat, food and shelter costs.

That from Hastings-Lennox & Addington MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman, upon release of the Liberals’ 255-page budget Tuesday.

She said that “while there are some laudable sections” of the budget, it “refuses to address very real issues of inflation.”

Kramp-Neuman, a member of the Conservative Opposition, also charged the Liberals with releasing a document that is “full of government buzzwords and “repeated announcements” instead of addressing the “very real issues facing Canadians.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government said the budget had measures to address “affordability”, health care and building a strong economy.

Kramp-Neuman said Conservative support for the budget was based on three conditions; eliminating the carbon tax, lowering taxes on pay cheques and providing a “realistic path towards more affordable housing.”

She added that “none of these conditions were met” and her party will not vote to support it, when it’s tabled in the House of Commons.
