Arrests made after stolen vehicles recovered in Bancroft

Bancroft OPP says four people have been charged, after two separate vehicles, reported stolen, were recovered in the town.

Police say the four people are all from Montreal and both vehicles had been reported stolen from the Toronto area. 

The arrests were made on Tuesday when one of the missing vehicles was spotted in Bancroft. A short time later, the second vehicle was located in the town. 

Among the four, there’s a 39-year-old and a 41-year-old who each face charges of theft of a motor vehicle, plus additional drug charges.

A 34 year old and a 50 year old have each been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. 

All four are still in custody and their cases are before an Ontario court in Belleville. 

Man charged with assault

In other police news, a Bancroft man has been charged with assault after what police call a physical altercation in the town on Sunday night.

Bancroft OPP was called to Hastings Street North at 7 p.m. After an investigation, they arrested the 39-year-old man. 

He was released and given a court day in Bancroft on May 9.
