Hastings Highlands council supports non-profits, charities

Hastings Highlands council is opening its piggy bank, to help numerous good causes. 

At its last meeting, councillors approved $4,750 of funding through its Miscellaneous Grant Program, which supports charities and nonprofits.

Ten different groups received money from the municipality. They include sports groups, such as Baseball for Dad, Maynooth Senior PickleBall and the Bancroft FC Soccer Club, which each received $500. 

Hastings Highlands next council meeting is Wednesday, April 5  at which its operating budget is expected to be given final reading. 

If there are no changes to the draft, residents of the municipality north of Bancroft, will receive a 3.7 per cent tax increase.
