Hastings County is supporting Bancroft’s plan to add more affordable housing.
County councilors voted Thursday to support the town’s application to the federal Rapid Housing Initiative. The application is to get funding for 28 rent-geared-to-income units for seniors.
They would be built within the new library building.
A ribbon-cutting for that building, known as North Hastings Inspiration Place, was held last fall off Cleak Avenue.

It will house the new North Hastings Public Library, but the plan, all along, has been to add housing units to it.
The vote means that, if the application is successful, Bancroft and Hastings County can work on an agreement to manage the building.
