The biggest car show Bancroft has ever seen is coming this spring.

That promise comes from teachers at York River Public School, whose students are benefitting from a fund that promotes skilled trades.

The students are building cars, which they’ll put on display at the show, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th, at the Newkirk Boulevard school.

Kids in Grades Four  to Six are building electric cars and learning about gears and batteries in the process.

Kids in Grades One to Three  are developing problem-solving skills as they build push cars. And Kindergarteners are building Lego cars.

The school is looking for vehicle enthusiasts in the community to participate in the show. Those who could talk to students about what makes vehicles special are encouraged to reach out. They can call the main office at  613-332-1833

The funding the school received comes for the Ministry of Labour and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
