Some construction work has begun along sidewalks in downtown Bancroft and orange and black pylons are already dotting much of Hastings Street. It comes as the town gets ready for Phase 2 of the Main Street Makeover project.
The municipality has not announced the date that the street will close to traffic, but at a recent council meeting Mayor Paul Jenkins said Phase 2 work was set to begin in “mid-April.”
The work will take place on Hastings Street between the Scotiabank and the Station Street intersection.
It will be similar to Phase 1 of the project, which took place in the fall. That work led to new sidewalks, curbs and gutters on Hastings Street, between Bridge Street and the Scotiabank.
The roughly $4 million project is part of Bancroft’s revitalization plan. More information can be found here.
