Get ready for construction again in downtown Bancroft.
The town has announced that work along Hastings Street will resume following the Easter Weekend.
Phase 2 of the Mainstreet Makeover Project will take place on the downtown street in between the Scotiabank and the Station Street intersection. Phase 1 work took place in the fall and led to new sidewalks, curbs and gutters on the more southern stretch of the main drag.
Bancroft General Manager Andra Kauffeldt says this time the work won’t involve a full shut-down of the street to vehicle traffic. The intention is to keep two lanes of traffic moving as much as possible throughout the project but there will be times when traffic control measures need to be in place. She said pedestrian walkways will remain available.
Kauffeldt added that the work is scheduled to be complete by the end of June, “before the busiest part of the summer season arrives.”
She also asks that residents be patient and understanding as work continues.
