Hastings Highlands residents will see a 4.99 per cent tax increase on their properties this year.
The increase was made official after council approved an operating budget at a meeting on Wednesday, April 5.Â
The vote passed with no objections, nor any debate.Â
The town’s treasurer brought to council a budget which called for a 4.2 per cent increase earlier this year. However, it was sent back for some tweaks.Â
The report tabled on Wednesday, says the budget allows for municipal services to be maintained. It also leaves room for a $25,000 donation to Quinte Health’s Back the Cat campaign, to purchase a CT scanner for North Hastings Hospital and adds an extra $100,000 into municipal reserves.
