UPDATE: Bancroft leaders participating in homelessness talks

UPDATE: Friday, April 28, 11:30 a.m.

Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins and Deputy Mayor Charles Mullet will participate in a roundtable discussion with Ontario’s Mental Health Minister when he comes to town next week.

Michael Tibollo is coming to the North Hastings Professional Services Building on Tuesday for the talk, plus a funding announcement.

After news of the visit broke, Bancroft issued a statement to update the community on things it’s doing to address homelessness. Jenkins, this week, has been at an Ontario Small Urban Municipalities conference in Brant County where he participated in an “ending homelessness panel.”

And, next week, he’s heading to Toronto for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s Ending Homelessness Symposium.

The statement says the Town is “committed to doing everything in its jurisdiction” to address homelessness and “ensuring our community is a safe place for everyone to enjoy.”
