Free fishing returns to Ontario this weekend

Ontario Fish and Wildlife is encouraging residents to give their moms the gift of fishing this Mother’s Day.

The provincial government is holding another “Free Fishing Weekend” on May 13th and 14th to mark the occasion.

During those days anyone that lives in Ontario will be able to go out fishing without having to purchase a license.

You’ll need to follow the provincial regulations and carry some kind of government-issued ID with your name and date of birth, like a driver’s license or health card.

You’ll also have to follow the catch and possession limits of a “conservation” fishing license. If you want larger limits, you’ll need to buy a one-day “sport” license.

Another free fishing opportunity is coming on Father’s Day weekend this June.
