North Hastings Public Library CEO, Librarian and Assistant all getting ready to retire

A new chapter is in store for the North Hastings Public Library and not just because it has a new building on the way.

CEO Kim McMunn is retiring next month. Around the same time, two-long time colleagues, Librarian Bev Creighton and Assistant Librarian Shirley McRandall are also retiring.

McMunn says the big changeover brings mixed emotions, but she also feels it’s good that a new CEO will soon come on board with an opportunity to usher in a new era.

The library is recruiting a new CEO now and expects to have an announcement in a few weeks. That new person will oversee the transition from the current building on Flint Avenue to the new building, for which construction will soon start, off Cleak Avenue.

“It’s a good time for a younger set to come in and learn the ropes,” McMunn says. “Computers are changing, language is changing, software is changing. We need to have staff that are going to embrace that.”

McMunn says, although she’ll officially retire on June 26, she’ll stay involved with the library as a volunteer and hopes to help with the transition.
