Good news for drivers, walkers, shoppers and store owners in downtown Bancroft.
Construction work is on the home stretch and Hastings Street will be fully open for vehicles and pedestrians over the holiday weekend.
Town General Manager Andra Kauffeldt says paving of the street is just about done.
But crews will be back next week to keep working on sidewalks, light poles and other items.
The project focuses on a section between the Scotiabank and the Station Street intersection. It’s caused traffic jams in the area since early spring.
But Kauffeldt says the town hopes to have the project wrapped up, ahead of schedule, in mid-June.
