Capsized boats and lack of safety equipment are the most common factors in fatal boating incidents. That information is coming from OPP who say that about 80 percent of people who died in a boating incident weren’t wearing life jackets, and most of them could have survived if they were. When it comes to off-road vehicle incidents, police say alcohol leads the list of factors in those. Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says their data couldn’t make the risks and consequences any clearer.
