Coe Hill Riders ATV Club raise $2,600 for North Kawartha Food Bank

When ATV riders zip through land, they may not just be there to have a good time. They may be raising money for a good cause, too.

The Coe Hill Riders ATV Club raised $2,600 for the North Kawartha Food Bank at their charity ride on June 17. The money was raised through riders’ $40 registration fees to complete a course that took them through land around Coe Hill and Apsley.

The Riders’ Coordinator, Norm Lewis, says the group has about 400 loyal members, who enjoy supporting local charities. They do three charity rides per year.

“They could go riding for free any day of the week,” he says. “They’re doing it for the charities, as well as the camaraderie and getting to meet people in the club. But the biggest reason for being there is to raise money for the charities.”

Lewis says the Coe Hill Riders’ next charity ride will be August 12 when the group raises money for the Tri Township Food Bank. That ride will take participants to an area in the woods where an acoustic guitar show will take place.

Mord details on the club is on its website.
