Hot weather expected through Thursday

Stay safe, as the hot summer weather takes hold.

That from Environment Canada, which has issued a Heat Warning, and Hastings  and Prince Edward Public Health.

The environmental agency says day-time temperatures in the high 20s and 30s are  expected to continue through Thursday.

It says to watch for the effects of heat illness, such as swelling, cramps and fainting.

The health unit advises people to keep out of the sun and heat between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

That’s when the UV index is highest.

It also says people should apply sunscreen or cover their skin and stay hydrated. That means drinking cool liquids, especially water, before you feel thirsty.
