Tennie Price celebrates 100th birthday

The Bancroft community will, officially, have a new member of the Century Club on Saturday.

Tennie Price will turn 100 years old.

Price, who lives in Cardiff, is a regular member of a bridge club that plays at the Dungannon Recreation Centre.

Fellow club members are in awe of her longevity, and many say she doesn’t look nearly 100. They threw a birthday party for her on Monday.

Price acknowledged that turning 100 is quite an accomplishment.

“I am proud. I’ve done everything I wanted to do,” she says. “I travelled. I worked for Bell telephone, and I drove a streetcar in Toronto during the (Second World War). That was a feat in itself.”

Price attributed her long life, in part, to eating healthy food. She says she grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan and almost all the food she ate was natural.

She says she’ll celebrate her actual 100th birthday by going to the Mandarin in Oshawa with family members.
